The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is investigating an outbreak of salmonella linked to eggs from Rose Acre Farms in Wisconsin. As of March 20, 2023, 42 people in nine states have been sickened by the outbreak strain of Salmonella Braenderup.
The CDC is advising consumers to avoid eating recalled eggs from Rose Acre Farms. The recalled eggs are packaged in clear plastic cartons with the following labels:

- "Country Fresh"
- "Coburn Farms"
- "Hillandale Farms"
- "Sunshine Farms"
- "Wal-Mart"
- "Great Value"
- "Kroger"
- "Ralphs"
- "Food Lion"
The recalled eggs have Julian dates ranging from 134 to 148. The Julian date is printed on the side of the carton.

Symptoms of Salmonella infection include:
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Fever
- Chills
- Headache
- Muscle aches
- Fatigue
Symptoms usually start 12 to 72 hours after eating contaminated food and can last for up to a week. Most people recover from Salmonella infection without treatment. However, some people, especially young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems, may develop serious complications.

Salmonella infection can be prevented by following these steps:
