Denise Herrmann-Wick was the best at the sprint competition in Ruhpolding, after hitting all ten shots she crossed the finish line after 19:35.6 minutes and secured her the victory. She just missed the track record of Laura Dahlmeier by 1.5 seconds. Lisa Vittozzi from Italy, who only missed one shot, came in second missing the win by 15.4 seconds. Marketa Davidova from the Czech Republic completed the podium +29.4 seconds behind the winner.

Herrmann-Wick was delighted with her victory in front of a home crowd: "It's awesome to win here, the atmosphere was just great. I'm also very happy with my shooting performance today." In the men's competition, Johannes Thingnes Boe from Norway was once again unbeatable. With a flawless shooting performance, he won by a margin of 29.2 seconds over his teammate Sturla Holm Laegreid. Third place went to Tarjei Boe (+57.8 seconds), who also remained penalty-free.
