Blewett Pass along US 97 closed on August 23, 2023, due to a nearby brush fire. The fire, since extinguished, was named the Taylor Bridge Fire and burned close to the highway. Firefighters closed the highway in both directions due to low visibility caused by smoke, as well as other hazards.
