Commanders' Final Injury Report for Week 1

Quarterbacks

Carson Wentz (foot) is questionable to play in Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Wentz has been dealing with a foot injury since the preseason, but he was able to practice in full on Friday.

Taylor Heinicke is expected to start if Wentz is unable to play. Heinicke started 15 games for the Commanders last season, and he led them to a 7-8 record.

Running Backs

Antonio Gibson (knee) is questionable to play in Week 1. Gibson suffered a knee injury in the preseason, but he has been able to practice in full this week.

Brian Robinson Jr. is expected to start if Gibson is unable to play. Robinson Jr. is a rookie running back who was drafted by the Commanders in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Wide Receivers

Terry McLaurin (ankle) is questionable to play in Week 1. McLaurin suffered an ankle injury in the preseason, but he has been able to practice in full this week.

Curtis Samuel (groin) is questionable to play in Week 1. Samuel suffered a groin injury in the preseason, but he has been able to practice in full this week.

Jahan Dotson (hamstring) is out for Week 1. Dotson suffered a hamstring injury in the preseason, and he is expected to miss the first few weeks of the regular season.

Tight Ends

Logan Thomas (knee) is questionable to play in Week 1. Thomas suffered a knee injury in the preseason, but he has been able to practice in full this week.

John Bates is expected to start if Thomas is unable to play. Bates is a second-year tight end who started 10 games for the Commanders last season.

Offensive Line

Trai Turner (ankle) is questionable to play in Week 1. Turner suffered an ankle injury in the preseason, but he has been able to practice in full this week.

Sam Cosmi is expected to start if Turner is unable to play. Cosmi is a second-year offensive tackle who started 14 games for the Commanders last season.

Defensive Line

Montez Sweat (back) is questionable to play in Week 1. Sweat suffered a back injury in the preseason, but he has been able to practice in full this week.

Daron Payne is expected to start if Sweat is unable to play. Payne is a fourth-year defensive tackle who started 17 games for the Commanders last season.

Linebackers

Cole Holcomb (ankle) is questionable to play in Week 1. Holcomb suffered an ankle injury in the preseason, but he has been able to practice in full this week.

Jamin Davis is expected to start if Holcomb is unable to play. Davis is a second-year linebacker who started 16 games for the Commanders last season.

Cornerbacks

William Jackson III (back) is questionable to play in Week 1. Jackson III suffered a back injury in the preseason, but he has been able to practice in full this week.

Kendall Fuller is expected to start if Jackson III is unable to play. Fuller is a fifth-year cornerback who started 16 games for the Commanders last season.

Safeties

Kamren Curl (thumb) is questionable to play in Week 1. Curl suffered a thumb injury in the preseason, but he has been able to practice in full this week.

Bobby McCain is expected to start if Curl is unable to play. McCain is a ninth-year safety who started 16 games for the Commanders last season.
