Dodgers Leave the Padres in the Dust
Padres Lackluster Performance
This week the Dodgers took three of four games in San Diego against the Padres. The Dodgers won all three games by 8 runs and the Padres won the 4th game by 1.
The Padres have now lost five straight series to start the 2023 season and have fallen to 6-15 on the year. The Dodgers on the other hand are now 3-3 on the year in series play after taking two of three against the Giants last week and losing two of three to the Cubs over the weekend.
Dodgers Pitching Domination
The Dodgers pitching staff was dominant in the series, allowing just four runs in 27 innings. Julio Urias, Tony Gonsolin, and Dustin May all pitched gems, and the bullpen was nearly unhittable.
This is a concern for the Padres, who have now allowed 12 runs in two games against the Dodgers. They will need to find a way to generate more offense if they want to avoid falling further behind in the NL West.
Dodgers Pride on Full Display
The Dodgers offense was led by Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Will Smith. Betts had three home runs in the series, while Freeman and Smith each had two.
The Dodgers are now 8-5 on the season and are in first place in the NL West. They will look to continue their strong start when they host the Cardinals this weekend.
