England seal ODI series victory in Grenada
England’s cricket team have secured a One Day International (ODI) series victory over the West Indies, after defeating the hosts by five wickets in the third and final match in Grenada.
The tourists took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series with a crushing 137-run win in the second ODI in Barbados on Thursday, and they completed the job in style on Sunday. Jason Roy and Phil Salt gave England a solid start with an opening partnership of 90, while Liam Livingstone continued his fine form with a blistering 66 from 39 balls.
Jonny Bairstow, who made 37, and Jos Buttler, who hit 41 not out, then guided England home with a fourth-wicket partnership of 67. Earlier, the West Indies had been bowled out for 250 in 48.4 overs, with Shamarh Brooks top-scoring with 80.
Reece Topley, who took 4-47, and Liam Livingstone, who took 3-42, were the pick of the England bowlers.The victory is a timely boost for England, who are preparing for the upcoming Cricket World Cup in India. It is also a welcome return to form for Livingstone, who has struggled for consistency in recent months.
The 29-year-old has been tipped as a potential match-winner for England in the World Cup, and his performance in Grenada will have given him a much-needed confidence boost.
