For the past 17 years, he was the face of the ZDF show "Bares für Rares": Fabian Kahl. Now the vintage expert has left the program with immediate effect. The station announced this in a press release on Monday afternoon. The format itself is not affected by this departure, it is said. The search for a new presenter is already underway. Until then, Horst Lichter will moderate the show alone.

However, there is speculation about a possible connection to a controversy that arose earlier this year. At the time, Kahl had been criticized for promoting an exotic animal dealer on social media. ZDF had then distanced itself from its presenter's statements. The broadcaster emphasized that its employees are obliged to comply with the ZDF guidelines, which expressly prohibit animal cruelty.
