100 years of service to the community

The Friesenheim fire department celebrated its 100th anniversary on Saturday, August 26, 2023, with a day full of festivities and events. The day began with a parade through the town, which featured current and former firefighters, as well as antique fire trucks. The parade was followed by a ceremony at the fire station, where several awards were given out, including the Firefighter of the Year award and a Lifetime Achievement Award.

The fire department also hosted an open house, where guests could tour the station, meet the firefighters, and learn about the history of the department. The day concluded with a pig roast and a dance.

The Friesenheim fire department was founded in 1923 by a group of volunteers who wanted to protect the town from fires. The department has grown over the years, and now has over 50 members who respond to an average of 100 calls per year. The department is also active in the community, participating in various events and programs.
