Early life and acting career

Ashley Jensen was born on 11 October 1969 in Annan, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. Her parents were both teachers, and she has one older brother. Jensen attended Annan Academy before moving to London to study drama at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

Jensen made her professional acting debut in 1993, appearing in a small role in the film A Relative Stranger. She went on to appear in a number of other films and television shows, including The Second Coming (1996), The Secret of Roan Inish (1994), and The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (2000).

Breakthrough role
