Jos Buttler joins Ben Stokes in extending England central contract
Buttler follows Stokes in committing to England until 2025
England's white-ball captain Jos Buttler has signed a new central contract with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), committing him to the national team until 2025.
Buttler's decision follows that of Test captain Ben Stokes, who earlier this month agreed to a new deal until 2025.
The 32-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman, who has played 167 one-day internationals and 96 Twenty20 internationals for England, said he was "honored" to sign the contract.
Buttler: 'I'm excited about the future of English cricket'
"I'm honored to have signed a new central contract with the ECB," Buttler said. "I'm excited about the future of English cricket and I believe that we have a lot to offer in all formats of the game.
"I'm looking forward to working with Ben Stokes and the rest of the team to achieve our goals."
ECB chief executive Tom Harrison said Buttler was a "world-class cricketer" and a "key part of England's plans for the future.
"Jos is a world-class cricketer and a key part of England's plans for the future," Harrison said. "He is a match-winner in all formats of the game and his experience and leadership will be invaluable to us.
"We are delighted that he has committed to English cricket for the long term."
Buttler's record-breaking year
Buttler enjoyed a successful year in 2022, captaining England to victory in the T20 World Cup in Australia and scoring a record-breaking 176 runs off just 100 balls in the second ODI against the Netherlands.
He was also named the ICC Men's T20I Player of the Year for 2022.
Buttler is set to lead England in the upcoming ODI series against South Africa, which starts on January 27.
