Justin Theroux on Playing Winona Ryder's 'Desperate' Love Interest in 'Beetlejuice 2'

Theroux Discusses His Role in the Upcoming Sequel

Justin Theroux has opened up about his role in the highly anticipated sequel to the classic film 'Beetlejuice'. In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, Theroux revealed that he will be playing the love interest of Winona Ryder's character, Lydia Deetz.

The sequel, titled 'Beetlejuice 2', is set many years after the original film. Lydia is now an adult and has returned to the haunted house where she first encountered Beetlejuice. Theroux's character, a wealthy businessman named Charles Deetz, is hired to renovate the house.

Theroux's Character is 'Desperate' for Lydia's Affection

Theroux described his character as "a desperate man who is trying to win Lydia's affection." He explained that Charles is attracted to Lydia's intelligence and independence, but he is also aware that she is still grieving the loss of her parents.

Theroux said that he was drawn to the role because of its complexity. "Charles is a flawed character," he said. "He's a wealthy man who has everything he could ever want, but he's still not happy. He's desperate for Lydia's love, but he doesn't know how to win it."

Theroux Excited to Work with Ryder

Theroux also expressed his excitement about working with Winona Ryder again. The two actors previously starred together in the 2016 film 'The Master'.

"Winona is a wonderful actress," Theroux said. "She's so talented and committed to her work. I'm really looking forward to working with her again on this film."

'Beetlejuice 2' Expected to Release in 2023

'Beetlejuice 2' is scheduled to be released in 2023. The film will be directed by Tim Burton, who also directed the original film. The cast also includes Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice and Geena Davis as Barbara Maitland.

Fans of the original film are eagerly awaiting the sequel. Theroux's involvement in the project has only increased the anticipation.
