Justin Theroux Was an 'Emo Kid' Fan of Beetlejuice: 'Everyone Related to or Wanted to Date' Winona Ryder (Exclusive)

From his favourite scenes to his enduring crush, Justin Theroux opens up about the Tim Burton classic Beetlejuice.

Justin Theroux has been a fan of Tim Burton's Beetlejuice since he was a kid. "I was an emo kid," he tells ET. "I related to the outsider aspect of it."

Theroux also had a major crush on Winona Ryder, who played Lydia Deetz in the film. "Everyone related to or wanted to date Winona Ryder," he says. "She was the coolest girl in the world."

Theroux's favourite scene in Beetlejuice is the one where Lydia first meets Beetlejuice.

"It's so iconic," he says. "The way she's just sitting there, so bored, and then he comes out of the floor and scares the crap out of her. It's so funny and it sets the tone for the rest of the movie."

Theroux also loves the scene where Beetlejuice sings "Day-O" at the dinner table. "It's so random and it comes out of nowhere," he says. "But it's so catchy and it's one of the most memorable scenes in the movie."

Theroux says that Beetlejuice is a film that he still enjoys watching today.

"It's one of those movies that never gets old," he says. "It's so well-made and it's so funny. I think it's a classic that will be enjoyed by generations to come."
