Wichita drops second straight

The Wichita Storm Chasers dropped their second straight game to the Memphis Redbirds on Wednesday night, falling 6-3 at AutoZone Park.

The Storm Chasers took an early lead in the first inning when MJ Melendez hit a two-run homer off of Redbirds starter Jake Woodford.

Memphis tied the game in the second inning on a two-run homer by Nolan Gorman.

Alex Faedo started for the Storm Chasers and pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits. He struck out three batters and walked two.

Reliever Jake Brentz gave up two runs in the fifth inning on a two-run homer by Lars Nootbaar.

The Storm Chasers managed just five hits in the game, with Melendez's homer accounting for two of them.

The Storm Chasers fall to 43-45 with the loss, while the Redbirds improve to 48-40.

The Storm Chasers will face Memphis again on Thursday night at AutoZone Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
