Mark Robins: Coventry manager sacked after almost eight years in charge
Two promotions guided Coventry back to the Championship
Coventry City have sacked manager Mark Robins after almost eight years in charge.
The Sky Blues are 21st in the Championship, just one point above the relegation zone, after a run of just one win in 11 games.
Robins was appointed in March 2014 and guided Coventry to promotion from League One in 2016 and 2019.
He also led the club to the Checkatrade Trophy final in 2017 and the FA Cup quarter-finals in 2018.
Coventry said in a statement: "Coventry City Football Club can confirm that Mark Robins has been relieved of his duties as first-team manager.
"The club would like to thank Mark for his hard work and commitment during his time at the club and wish him all the best for the future."
Coventry's next game is at home to Bristol City on Saturday.
It is his first managerial role since leaving Coventry in 2014.
Robins was appointed Coventry manager in March 2014, with the club bottom of League One.
He guided them to safety that season and then to promotion in 2016.
Coventry were relegated back to League One in 2017, but Robins led them to promotion again in 2019.
The Sky Blues finished 16th in the Championship in 2019-20, 12th in 2020-21 and 13th in 2021-22.
However, they have struggled this season, winning just five of their 27 league games.
Robins' last game in charge was a 2-1 defeat at home to Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
Coventry are now looking for a new manager to try to keep them in the Championship.
