Newcastle: Three men arrested in connection with deadly house explosion and on suspicion of cannabis production
Arrests made after fatal blast in the early hours of Tuesday
Three men have been arrested in connection with a deadly house explosion and on suspicion of cannabis production, police have said.
The blast happened in the early hours of Tuesday in the Newbiggin Hall area of Newcastle upon Tyne and left a man in his 50s dead.
Two men remain in police custody
Two men, aged 30 and 36, have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and conspiracy to produce cannabis. They remain in police custody.
A third man, aged 30, has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to produce cannabis and has been released on bail.
Police continue to investigate
Detective Chief Inspector Lee Gosling, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our investigation is ongoing and we are continuing to appeal for anyone with information about the incident to get in touch.
“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area in the lead-up to the explosion.
“We would also like to hear from anyone who may have information about the production of cannabis at the address.”
