Canada's Paralympic Team Continues to Shine
The Canadian Paralympic Team has had a successful week at the Tokyo Paralympics, adding two more gold medals to their tally. The team now has a total of 17 medals, including seven gold, five silver, and five bronze.
The two gold medals on Thursday came in the women's 1500m T54 and the men's 5000m T54. In the 1500m, Diane Roy of Sherbrooke, Que., won in a time of 3:38.08. In the 5000m, Brent Lakatos of Dorval, Que., won in a time of 10:09.28.
The Canadian team also had a number of other strong performances on Thursday. In the women's 400m T37, Sarah White of Calgary, Alta., won the silver medal in a time of 1:00.12. In the men's 100m T54, Alexandre Dupont of Clarence Creek, Ont., won the bronze medal in a time of 14.38.
