Russia, North Korea, and Even Trump: Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann Slams 'Losers' at Security Conference
The longtime Free Democratic Party MP's comments come ahead of the Munich Security Conference, where world leaders will discuss pressing global issues.
German politician Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann has launched a scathing attack on Russia, North Korea, and even former U.S. President Donald Trump, calling them "losers" ahead of the upcoming Munich Security Conference. Strack-Zimmermann, a member of the Bundestag and the Free Democratic Party, made her comments in an interview with the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag.
Strack-Zimmermann: Russia's 'Imperial Ambitions' a Threat to Europe and Beyond
Strack-Zimmermann took aim at Russia, accusing the country of harboring "imperial ambitions" that pose a threat to Europe and beyond. She specifically criticized Russia's annexation of Crimea and its ongoing military aggression in Ukraine, calling it a "violation of international law."
The MP also expressed concern about Russia's close ties with China and its growing military capabilities, including the development of hypersonic missiles. She warned that Russia's actions could lead to a new arms race and destabilize the global order.
North Korea's Nuclear Program a 'Grave Threat'
Strack-Zimmermann also condemned North Korea's nuclear program, calling it a "grave threat" to the region and the world. She criticized the country's leader, Kim Jong-un, for his aggressive rhetoric and his pursuit of nuclear weapons.
The MP urged the international community to take a strong stand against North Korea's nuclear ambitions and to work towards a diplomatic solution to the crisis.
Trump's 'Irresponsible' Foreign Policy Criticized
In addition to Russia and North Korea, Strack-Zimmermann also criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump for his "irresponsible" foreign policy.
She accused Trump of damaging the transatlantic relationship, withdrawing from international agreements, and emboldening authoritarian leaders around the world. She expressed hope that the Biden administration would restore trust and cooperation with allies and take a more responsible approach to global affairs.
