Pensioner Killed Following Crash Involving Lothian Bus and Car
Emergency services rushed to the scene on Broomhouse Drive at around 8.30am on Tuesday, July 11, following reports of a two-vehicle crash involving a Lothian bus and a car.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, a 74-year-old male pedestrian, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Pictures shared on social media appeared to show a severed head lying in the street but police have not confirmed this detail.
Driver Treated for Minor Injuries
The driver of the car, a 53-year-old woman, was treated at the scene for minor injuries before being taken to the Royal Infirmary Hospital in Edinburgh for further checks.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "We attended a road crash on Broomhouse Drive, Edinburgh, around 8.30am on Tuesday, July 11.
“The crash involved a bus and a car. Sadly, a 74-year-old male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The road was closed for several hours while investigations were carried out.
“Our enquiries are continuing and we would urge anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has any information that can assist with our investigation, to contact us.”
