Starnberg: Two-year-old girl run over by car

Starnberg - On Monday, a terrible accident occurred on Gautinger Strasse in Starnberg. A two-year-old girl was run over by a car and seriously injured. She was taken to a nearby hospital by one of two rescue helicopters that were dispatched to the scene. The incident happened at around 10 a.m. near the Autohaus Bauer car dealership.
According to the current state of investigation, the girl's mother had just parked her car on Gautinger Strasse in front of the car dealership. She got out of the car with her two-year-old daughter and wanted to take the girl out of the child seat in the back. The girl's mother had already released the child from the straps, but the girl was able to open the door and get out of the car herself. It is not yet entirely clear what happened next. According to the police, the child ran behind the car and was hit by a passing car. The driver of the car was unable to brake in time. According to the police report, the girl was run over by the front wheel of the car. The driver of the car, a 79-year-old man from Seeshaupt, and his wife, who was sitting in the passenger seat, were not injured.
Emergency services and police were quickly on the scene. The two rescue helicopters, Christoph 1 and Christoph Murnau, also landed nearby. The girl was initially treated on site before being flown to a hospital in Munich.
Investigators from the Weilheim Police Inspectorate have taken over the investigation. The exact sequence of events is still being determined.
