Stokes, Buttler sign two-year central contracts with ECB
Top England cricketers to continue their commitment with the national team for the upcoming years
Star all-rounder Ben Stokes and wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler have extended their central contracts with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for a further two years.
The pair have been key figures in England's recent success, playing a pivotal role in the team's 2019 Cricket World Cup triumph.
Stokes, who was named ICC Men's Player of the Year in 2020, signed on for a second two-year deal with the ECB, while Buttler has signed on for a third two-year term.
The duo will now be available for selection for all of England's international fixtures up until the end of the 2023-24 season.
ECB chief executive Tom Harrison hailed the re-signing of Stokes and Buttler as a "significant boost" for English cricket.
"Ben and Jos are two of the most important players in the world," Harrison said.
"They are both world-class performers who have played a huge role in England's success in recent years."
"I am delighted that they have both committed to the England team for a further two years."
Stokes was England's leading run-scorer during the 2019 Cricket World Cup, and was also named Player of the Match in the final against New Zealand.
Buttler was England's leading wicket-keeper during the tournament, and also scored a crucial century in the semi-final against Australia.
The pair are now expected to play a key role in England's defence of the Cricket World Cup in India next year.
