"You can't do that" - Spanish midfielder reflects on Paris Saint-Germain "mistake"
Ander Herrera believes Paris Saint-Germain made a mistake in allowing him to leave the club last summer.
The Spanish midfielder joined Manchester United on a free transfer in July 2019 after his contract with PSG expired. He has since become a key player for the Red Devils, making 44 appearances in all competitions.
Herrera believes that PSG should have done more to keep him at the club.
"I think they made a mistake in letting me go," Herrera told ESPN. "I was a player who always gave everything for the club, and I was always available to play.
"I think I still had a lot to offer PSG, but they decided to let me go. That's their decision, and I have to respect it.
"But I'm happy at Manchester United. I'm playing regularly, and I'm enjoying my football again."
Herrera's departure from PSG was a surprise to many observers.
He had been a regular starter for the French club for four seasons, and he had helped them win three Ligue 1 titles and two Coupe de France titles.
However, PSG were reportedly keen to reduce their wage bill, and Herrera was one of several players who were allowed to leave the club last summer.
Herrera's departure has been a blow to PSG. The French club have struggled for consistency this season, and they are currently third in Ligue 1, 12 points behind leaders Lille.
PSG are also out of the Champions League, having been knocked out by Manchester City in the semi-finals.
Herrera's comments will no doubt add to the pressure on PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine has been under fire for his team's poor form this season, and he could be sacked if PSG fail to win the Ligue 1 title.
