Brazil defeated Ecuador 1-0 in a closely contested match on Friday in a FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifier. The match was played in front of a sold-out crowd at the Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado in Quito, Ecuador.

The only goal of the match came in the 31st minute when Antony sent a great ball to Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, who slotted it home past Hernan Galindez in the Ecuadorian goal.

With this victory, Brazil maintained its perfect start to the CONMEBOL section of FIFA World Cup 2026 qualification, having won all three of their matches so far. Ecuador, meanwhile, suffered its first defeat in the campaign, having drawn their first two matches.

The two teams will meet again in the return fixture in Brazil in March 2023.
