Kent Police say the suspect in a carjacking that prompted a lockdown at Kentridge High School has been arrested. The lockdown has been lifted.

Kent Police are investigating a carjacking that prompted a lockdown at Kentridge High School on Wednesday morning.

Police say the carjacking happened around 10:30 a.m. in the school parking lot. The victim, a 17-year-old girl, was sitting in her car when a man approached her and demanded her keys.

The victim refused, and the suspect pulled out a gun. The victim then handed over her keys, and the suspect drove away in her car.

Kent Police immediately responded to the scene and set up a perimeter around the school. A short time later, officers located the suspect's vehicle abandoned nearby.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 20 years old, with a medium build and short hair. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and jeans.

Kentridge High School was placed on lockdown during the investigation. The lockdown has since been lifted.

Kent Police are asking anyone with information about the carjacking to call 911.
