Edinburgh: Social media users urged to not share distressing images after man dies in 'tragic accident'

Social media users are being urged not to share distressing images after a man died in a 'tragic accident' in Edinburgh.

The incident happened on Friday afternoon on Princes Street, one of the city's busiest shopping streets. Police and emergency services were called to the scene, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland has launched an investigation into the incident.

In a statement, the force said: "We are aware of images and videos circulating on social media following a tragic incident on Princes Street in Edinburgh on Friday afternoon."

"We would urge people not to share these images or videos, as they may cause further distress to the family and friends of the deceased."

"Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this difficult time."
