Club Brugge v Aston Villa early injury news as three out and three doubts

The team news ahead of Club Brugge v Aston Villa

Club Brugge host Aston Villa in the third round of games in the group stages of the Champions League this coming Wednesday evening, with both sides seeking their first win in the competition. Villa still have a number of injury concerns ahead of the trip to Belgium, with Diego Carlos, Ludwig Augustinsson and Boubacar Kamara all ruled out, while Jan Bednarek, Leander Dendoncker and Ashley Young are all doubts.

Carlos has yet to make his Villa debut after suffering a serious Achilles injury in the summer, while Augustinsson has been out with a hamstring problem and Kamara has a knee issue. Bednarek and Dendoncker both missed the weekend win over Brentford with knocks, while Young was forced off early in that game with a calf problem.

For Club Brugge, Mats Rits is a doubt with a muscle problem, while Dedryck Boyata and Bjorn Meijer are both ruled out.

Rits has been a key player for Club Brugge this season, making 10 appearances in all competitions, while Boyata and Meijer have both been regulars in the defence.

The game between Club Brugge and Aston Villa will be played at the Jan Breydel Stadium on Wednesday, October 5, with kick-off at 5.45pm.
