M4 delays after multi-vehicle crash at junction

Delays of up to an hour are expected on the M4 following a multi-vehicle crash at junction 16.

The collision, which involved three cars and a lorry, happened at around 7.30am this morning (Monday, January 23).

Emergency services are currently at the scene and the motorway has been closed in both directions between junctions 16 and 17.

Traffic is building up in the area and motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.

A diversion is in place via the A419 and A420.

Highways England has said that the road is expected to remain closed for several hours while the emergency services work to clear the scene and investigate the cause of the collision.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys if they are travelling in the area.
