RB Leipzig: Examinations on Wednesday! Concerns about Geertruida

Leipzig - RB Leipzig is concerned about Justin Geertruida. As the Bundesliga club announced on Monday, the Dutch defender was substituted at half-time in the friendly against 1. FC Nürnberg (1:1) on Sunday due to muscular problems.

Geertruida is to undergo further examinations on Wednesday. The 23-year-old had only recently returned to training after a long injury break. In the past season, he had missed almost all the games due to a torn cruciate ligament.

After the draw against Nürnberg, coach Marco Rose was still optimistic. "It doesn't seem to be a big deal," said the 46-year-old. "We'll have to see what the examinations say."

RB Leipzig will start the new Bundesliga season on August 5th with a home game against VfB Stuttgart. Before that, there are two more friendlies scheduled: against FC Southampton (July 23rd) and Real Sociedad (July 30th).
